It's Giving Season! SSG's 12th Annual Turkey Drive

Help SHU Student Government Provide Turkeys to 1,200 Families in our community of Bridgeport, CT!

The Sacred Heart University Student Government is hosting its 12th annual Turkey Drive - one of our major annual community outreach initiatives. This long-standing tradition unites members of the SHU community by giving back to others. Student Government is grateful to its campus partners in The Office of Community Engagement and SHU Athletics for their collaboration on this vital community service effort.

Thanks to a generous partnership with Harry Garafalo ’80 and ShopRite of Milford, Student Government purchases turkeys each year to be distributed to families in need from the local Bridgeport area.

Did you know that the poverty rate in Bridgeport is 20.4% - higher than the national average of 13.4%?

To help meet the ongoing need in the Bridgeport community, Sacred Heart University’s Student Government is motivated to raise $25,000 for members of the Bridgeport community. Our Turkey Drive will be held prior to the Thanksgiving holiday at the St. Charles Borromeo Church on November 21st.

Please consider funding the purchase of a turkey for a family in need this holiday season.

Every $20 donated will allow the Student Government to provide a turkey or other essential food items to local community members for their holiday celebrations.
